Around the day and age in which the bill of rights was written, it was un-heard of for a country to have a seperation of church and state. But luckily even though most of our founding fathers were christians they were at least smart enough and not too thick headed to realize that this country was not created as a new holy land for christians or any religion, but instead a place where any man can live, prosper, and put faith in whatever he feels is right. It is not a governments job to tell us what to do, it is there to simply protect every individual and their rights and liberties. And any conservative christian who honestly believes that this country is a good christian country should seriously read up on early settlers, puritans, native americans, quakers, witches, Christopher Columbus, deists, and most importantly Thomas Jefferson.
